DDDC Recalculation: How it Affects You
Each month, when you receive your Walton EMC gas bill, a portion of the bill includes a base charge from Atlanta Gas Light. This charge, different for each home or business, represents AGL’s cost of delivering gas, reading the meter and maintaining the pipeline. It is calculated based on gas usage during the coldest period of the year.
You most likely noticed a change in your base charge in September. This is because, effective September 1, the Dedicated Design Day Capacity (DDDC) was recalculated.
The DDDC is the part of the base charge that covers common costs associated with delivering gas to your home or business. It is based on a customer’s demand on the system on the coldest day of the year. The Georgia Public Service Commission requires that the DDDC be recalculated every year.
For more information on base charges, including information about the DDDC recalculation, visit Atlanta Gas Light’s website.
