Safety: Have the Water Heater Know-How

• Set your water heater thermostat to 120 degrees to prevent scalding
  
• Have a licensed contractor install insulation around the water heater
  
• Keep the water heater jacket away from the flue and drain
  
• Do not insulate the top of a gas water heater--insulation is combustible
  
• Keep pipe insulation at least six inches away from the flue
  
• Keep the burner free of dust and dirt
  
• Do not store flammable materials near the water heater
