Remember these no-cost, low-cost tips to help save money when using your gas appliances. If you see an upgrade in the near future, look for the ENERGY STAR label on all your appliance purchases.

Range and Oven

Cook efficiently. Make sure the size the burner size matches the size of the pot or pan.

Don't peek. It will increase cooking time and reduce cooking temperature. Use the oven light instead.

Water Heater

Turn down the temperature on your water heater.

Only wash full loads in dishwashers and washing machines.

Repair leaks. A constant drip can really add up.

When you are away, use the vacation setting on the unit to avoid overpaying.

Furnace

Keep your thermostat low.

Don't place furniture items over vents.

Open and close windows appropriately.

Washer and Dryer

Only wash and dry full loads, but avoid overloading.

Clean the lint trap to maintain efficiency.

Use cold water when you can.
