Because most families only roast a turkey once a year, it can be a bit intimidating - especially if you've never tried it before. You can baste it, stuff it and tie it up real nice, but you'd be surprised how simple a delicious roast turkey can be without all the fuss.

Follow these steps for a perfect Thanksgiving turkey every time:

THAW
The bird should be completely thawed in the fridge 2 to 3 days before cooking.

FLAVOR
Remove the giblets and rub the outside and inside of the bird with butter and your favorite herbs.

TEMPERATURE
Roast at 375 degrees.

20 MINUTES PER POUND
It should take a ten-pound bird between three and four hours to reach a recommended internal temperature of 170 degrees.

LET IT REST
Cover the turkey loosely with foil and allow it to retain some of the moisture before slicing. Carve and enjoy!
